Wilderness Navigation Level III – Navigating with Map, Compass & GPS

Join The Friends for this two-day workshop, which is an introduction to the use of the GPS.

Topics cover programming your GPS, creating waypoints, and using the GPS for navigation.

This workshop will be confirmed by a challenging navigation exercise using your GPS.

If you have a GPS, and it lives in your backpack and you’ve never really used it… If you just bought one and really want to dive in and get to know it… if you’ve had one forever, and it never really works for because of… well… reasons… then this is the course for you!

Day 2 will be a challenging hike during which you’ll be practicing everything you learned on the first day, and on the other two courses in this series.

NOTE – you will need your own GPS for this course. The course is based on the GARMIN 62 series, but the staff will do their best to work with any GPS you have.
