COVID 19 UPDATES
Outdoor Recreation Opportunities in Ontario Parks
The Ontario government has announced that the province will be entering Step One of Ontario's Roadmap to Reopen on Friday, June 11, 2021. This means that Ontario Parks is resuming overnight stays on campground and backcountry campsites and in roofed accommodations including cabins, yurts and cottages. Ontario Parks continues to offer outdoor recreational activities for day use in provincial parks and conservation reserves, with some COVID-19 modifications or restrictions to ensure the safety of staff and visitors.
What’s open and what’s not
Some operations may not be offered or are being offered on a limited basis due to COVID-19, such as, group camping and picnic shelter rentals. Before planning your trip to Ontario Parks, click on the “Parks” drop down menu to view the Facilities and Activities icons to see what’s available at the provincial park or conservation reserve you wish to visit.
Keeping safe at the park
We’re counting on people to be responsible when enjoying our parks. Continue to follow public health advice including practicing physical distancing by keeping at least two meters from others, wearing a face covering where required, when physical distancing may be a challenge or not possible and when entering indoor public spaces, and wash your hands regularly with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available. Postpone your visit if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been asked to isolate.
While some services remain closed in Ontario Parks, priority for cleaning and disinfection is placed on essential areas and high-touch surfaces in public spaces including washrooms and other shared facilities.
The safety of our visitors and staff is always our top priority. We have implemented measures to address overcrowding and promote physical distancing in our park spaces during busy visitation times by limiting occupancy for day use. This includes limiting the number of daily vehicle permits sold.
Keep up to date by visiting individual park social media channels before you leave and when you are travelling to the park, especially for day use. A list of park accounts can be found on the Social Media page at www.OntarioParks.com
Please review the Frequently Asked Questions or the “Visiting Parks” section for more details and information on our facilities, services and programs.
